I was looking through the internet over Christmas,
catching up on the recent passed and present of
the Channel Islands...having spent nearly three
years in Jersey, flying over to Guernsey, every
Wednesday, on business, few visits to Alderney,
and just the one trip to Sark..!
Amazing the things l came across...Goodness! :).
But..I did come across this...

I'd love to hear more about your trips to Guernsey, Willie - also Alderney where my father's ashes are scattered. I love the the poetry competitions run in Guernsey with successful entrants displayed inside the buses. One year on holiday I caught several different buses just to read them. Which reminds me, there's no-one as friendly as a Guernsey bus driver! Great to hear from you and Happy New Year!

My trips to Guernsey every Wednesday, were for business,
the company had a small office there, and it was my job
to gain new business, at the time l was with NCR..and
with Decimalisation just around the corner in 71, l
canvassed businesses for the replacement of their Cash
Registers/Tills...Needless to say, l was very successful
at it..But, the two things l enjoyed most was the fresh
fish market and my lunches at the Lobster Pot...So! l
did, NO work at all in the afternoons..catching a plane
back to Jersey about four o'clock! And, at times, the
pilot was'nt to happy with me having a 2ft~3ft live eel
wriggling about in a carrier bag...!
As for Alderney..a millionaire friend of mine would take
me over in his yacht..HeHe! Less said about those trips..
the better...! :).
I got to know a certain Lady...Lady..ooops! Can't disclose!
Who used to have 'functions' on her yacht...HeHe! Less Said!

And...Yes! Happy New Year to you and yours Marilyn...! :0).

You have a way with words, Willie, and of brightening up a cold winter's day. Thanks for making me smile.
